Pourcentages
I - Appliquer un pourcentage
$$R = P_0 \times \frac{t}{100} = 15 \times \frac{30}{100} = 4,5\ €$$
$$x = \frac{q}{Q} \times 100 = \frac{5}{40} \times 100 = 12,5\ (\%)$$
$$Q_1 = 1 \times Q_0 + \frac{t}{100} \times Q_0 = \left(1 + \frac{t}{100}\right) \times Q_0$$
Méthode : Réduction en pourcentage
Calculer le prix d'un article coûtant $50\ €$ soldé de $20\ \%$.
Prix initial : $P_0 = 50\ €$ Pourcentage de réduction : $t = 20\ (\%)$ Prix final : $P_1$
$$P_1 = \left(1 - \frac{t}{100}\right) \times P_0 = \left(1 - \frac{20}{100}\right) \times 50 = 40\ €$$
Percentages
I - Apply a percentage
Property 1: Applying $t\ \%$ to a number means multiplying this number by $\color{#b91c1c}{\dfrac{t}{100}}$.
Method: Apply a percentage
Calculate the amount of a $30\ \%$ discount on a price of $15\ €$.
Initial price: $P_0 = 15\ €$ Discount percentage: $t = 30\ (\%)$ Discount amount: $R$
$$R = P_0 \times \frac{t}{100} = 15 \times \frac{30}{100} = 4.5\ €$$
II - Calculate a percentage
Property 2: In percentage, a part $q$ of a quantity $Q$ is equal to $\color{#b91c1c}{\dfrac{q}{Q} \times 100}$.
Method: Calculate a percentage
Calculate the percentage representing a reduction of $5\ €$ on a total amount of $40\ €$.
| Part in € | $q = 5$ | $x$ |
| Whole in € | $Q = 40$ | $100$ |
$$x = \frac{q}{Q} \times 100 = \frac{5}{40} \times 100 = 12.5\ (\%)$$
III - Percentage change
Property 3:
- Increasing a quantity by $t\ \%$ is equivalent to multiplying it by $\color{#b91c1c}{\left(1 + \dfrac{t}{100}\right)}$.
- Decreasing a quantity by $t\ \%$ is equivalent to multiplying it by $\color{#b91c1c}{\left(1 - \dfrac{t}{100}\right)}$.
Proof: Percentage increase
Let $Q_0$ be the initial quantity and $Q_1$ the final quantity increased by $t\ \%$.
According to property 1, the increase is equal to $\dfrac{t}{100} \times Q_0$ so $Q_1 = Q_0 + \dfrac{t}{100} \times Q_0$.
We factor out $Q_0$ in the previous expression, we obtain:
$$Q_1 = 1 \times Q_0 + \frac{t}{100} \times Q_0 = \left(1 + \frac{t}{100}\right) \times Q_0$$
Method: Percentage decrease
Calculate the price of an item costing $50\ €$ discounted by $20\ \%$.
Initial price: $P_0 = 50\ €$ Discount percentage: $t = 20\ (\%)$ Final price: $P_1$
$$P_1 = \left(1 - \frac{t}{100}\right) \times P_0 = \left(1 - \frac{20}{100}\right) \times 50 = 40\ €$$
Vocabulary: The number $t$ is called the rate of change from $Q_0$ to $Q_1$.
Porcentajes
I - Aplicar un porcentaje
$$R = P_0 \times \frac{t}{100} = 15 \times \frac{30}{100} = 4,5\ €$$
$$x = \frac{q}{Q} \times 100 = \frac{5}{40} \times 100 = 12,5\ (\%)$$
III - Variación porcentual
Propiedad 3:
$$Q_1 = 1 \times Q_0 + \frac{t}{100} \times Q_0 = \left(1 + \frac{t}{100}\right) \times Q_0$$
$$P_1 = \left(1 - \frac{t}{100}\right) \times P_0 = \left(1 - \frac{20}{100}\right) \times 50 = 40\ €$$
